For use with Carefree 1997 and newer Spirit FX, Fiesta and Simplicity awnings up to 25' lengths. If your current awning fabric, roller and hardware are in good condition, purchase the Pioneer Endcap Upgrade Kit (arms not included.) Your springs will be replaced with the crank mechanism. No need to worry about unlocking travel locks/spring mechanisms or fishing for pull straps. To open the Pioneer, simply turn the hand crank (Sold separately). Once it's fully open, slide the single slider arm up to the roller and tighten the rafter knobs. Now you can raise the roller with the lift handles to an desired pitch. It's that simple. For an exceptionally taut canopy, backwind the crank to make your canopy as tight as a drum. There's never a need to re-tension your canopy. In breezy conditions, the worm gear mechanism will not allow your roller to unwind. When finished using your awning, lower the roller tube, loosen the rafter knobs and slide the rafter arms to the closed position. Just turn the crank in the opposite direction until the roller is tight against the coach and you're ready for travel. No locks or straps to fuss with to prevent billowing in transit. The crank assembly automatically locks the roller in place.
